In seiner Videoarbeit „80064" von 2004 drängt Artur Żmijewski den 92jährigen Auschwitzüberlebenden Josef Tarnawa in einem Tattoostudio zum Nachstechen seiner Lagernummer. Nur widerwillig lässt sich Tarnawa die Nummer „auffrischen". Was in den Augen einiger Kritiker eine neue Art des Erinnerns darstellt, erleben andere als grausamen Akt und Provokation. Żmijewski, der im April 2012 als künstlerischer Leiter die 7. Berlin Biennale eröffnen wird, schockiert immer wieder mit ähnlichen Aktionen. Ist seine Kunst Spektakel oder eine ernsthafte Auseinandersetzung mit dem Erinnern an die Verbrechen des Nationalsozialismus?

Eine Veranstaltung des Forschungszentrums für Historische Geisteswissenschaften, der Studiengalerie 1.357 und des MA Curatorial Studies – Theorie – Geschichte – Kritik (Goethe Universität und Städelschule). Mit großzügiger Unterstützung durch den Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft und der Heinz Nixdorf Stiftung, dem Kulturamt der Stadt Frankfurt, der Alfons und Gertrud Kassel-Stiftung und der DZ-Bank Stiftung.

In his video work „80064" (2004) Artur Żmijewskis coerces Josef Tarnawa, a 92-year-old Auschwitz survivor, into the repeated tattooing of his identification number. Despite his initial protestations Tarnawa has his number „refreshed". In the eyes of many critics this kind of reanactment constitutes a new form of commemoration. Others, however, perceive it as a cruel act that doesn't go beyond provocation. Żmijewski, who curates the forthcoming 7th Berlin Biennale, repeatedly shocks his audience with similar actions. Does his work amount to a spectacle? Or does it reflect a serious examination of the commemoration of the holocaust?

Im Zuge einer Veranstaltungsreihe des Moderna Museet Stockholm zur Geschichte und Rezeption der Situationistischen Internationalen (1957-1972) lädt die Freitagsküche zu der Veranstaltung „Die Situationistischen Internationalen" ein.

Michael Riedel (Künstler, Frankfurt M.) und Roberto Ohrt (Kunsthistoriker, Hamburg) sprechen über die Publikationen situationistischer Texte, Bücher, Werke, Konzepte und Ideen anhand von über 100 Cover-Motiven. Nach der Auflösung der Organisation 1972 war die Behandlung dieser Geschichte extrem schwierig und eigentlich nur eingeschränkt möglich. Niemand wollte die Thesen der „letzten wahren Revolutionäre" verbreiten oder sich mit ihnen anlegen. Nach dem Ende des ersten Kalten Krieges (1948-1991) und noch deutlicher nach dem Tod von Guy Debord (1931-1994), dem unangefochtenen Nachlassverwalter der Situationistischen Internationalen, sind Fragmente der situationistischen Geschichte in allen möglichen Neuauflagen erschienen. Die Postproduktion hat mittlerweile fast unübersehbar Ausmaße angenommen. Michael Riedel und Roberto Ohrt sprechen über die Methoden, das Erbe dieser Geschichte anzutreten, und wie sich die Ansprüche, den Vorgaben der Geschichte treu zu bleiben, in der Gestaltung der Publikationen niederschlagen oder eben nicht.

Anschließend werden ausgewählte künstlerische Interventionen vorgestellt, die seit 2000 von dem Ausstellungsraum Oskar-von-Miller Strasse 16 ausgingen und zum Teil in der Auseinandersetzung mit situationistischen Techniken entstanden waren. In der Diskussion mit Kim West (Kritiker, Stockholm) und Daniel Birnbaum (Direktor Moderna Museet, Stockholm) wird die Frage nach dem „Zugriff" auf diese Geschichte, auf die aktuelle Situation ausgedehnt.

John Levack Drever
is a lecturer in composition at Goldsmiths, University of London. He is a co-founder and director of the UK and Ireland Soundscape Community (affilieted to the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology) and director of Sonic Arts Network. He regularly presents his work internationally in a wide range of contexts from concert hall to specific sites, most recently Orford Ness and Goodwin Sands. Much of his work is collaborative, including projects with Laurence Upton, Louise K. Wilson, Rachel Gomme, and Blind Ditch. His work has twice been awarded a prize in the Musica Nova competition, Prague. Commissions range from Groupe de Recherches Musicales to the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. His work demonstrates an ongoing inquiry into enviromental sound and human utterance. (gruenrecorder)

„Alles Farbige ist eingebettet in den elementaren Kontrast von Schwarz und Weiß, denn ohne diese beiden Abtönfarben gäbe es gar keine Kontrastierung in der farbigen Umwelt. Im Schwarzen verliert sich alles Farbige, im Weißen löst es sich auf." 1 Wie mit dieser Aussage Schwarz und Weiß universalisiert werden, gibt auch der Ausstellungstitel unmissverständliche Statements ab: Florian Heinke. Kein Gott und seine Kinder. Das erste ist der Maler selbst, die Marke, nicht mehr und nicht weniger. Das zweite, Kein Gott und seine Kinder., handelt von den Menschen seiner Generation, die den Glauben verloren haben wie auch die Fähigkeit zur Kommunikation.

Konsequent reduziert Florian Heinke seine Farbpalette ausschließlich auf Schwarz, das er direkt auf Nessel aufträgt, um es als radikales Medium für seine Malerei zu nutzen, die er als Black Pop bezeichnet. Bilder aus schnelllebigen Medien wie dem Internet, Magazinen und Zeitungen und eigene Fotos und Bildmontagen werden von ihm zu unheimlichen Monumenten eingefroren als aufrüttelnder Kommentar zum Phänomen der Sprachlosigkeit. War es die Konsumgesellschaft, die die Pop-Art-Künstler der 1960er Jahre aufgriffen, so reflektiert Florian Heinke zwischenmenschliches Scheitern als Signum der Gegenwart. Seine Bilder zeigen die Wütenden, deren Verzweiflung sich in gewalttätigen Straßenprotesten Bahn bricht, und die Heimatlosen, die an sich selbst zerbrechen. Der schwarze Block in all seiner Sprengkraft und Aggressivität manifestiert sich als Topos in den seriell angelegten RIOTS, die der Künstler als zeitgenössische Landschaftsmalerei bezeichnet, und das Moment der Unnahbarkeit nimmt in der Serie HEIMAT als Porträts menschlicher Ikonen Gestalt an, die alle einsam gestorben sind. Das Morbide schwingt in seiner Bildsprache ebenso mit wie das Mystische und Unergründliche: Rätselhafte Zeichen und Vanitas-Symbole wie Schlangen, Schädel und allegorische Todesengel sind wiederkehrende Elemente. In einer neuen, großformatigen Arbeit formieren sich schwarze Schmetterlinge zu einem unheilvollen Schwarm. Das altgriechische Wort für Seele, ψυχή, ist gleichbedeutend mit Schmetterling, und auch hier findet sich im vermeintlich Schönen die Endlichkeit. Das Extreme, Sittenlose, den Verfall und die Manie erhöht Florian Heinke mit dem Chiaroscuro seiner Malerei zum Symbol für die ewige Wiederkehr des Gleichen – Memento mori.

Eine Ode an die Freundschaft

„Sein Schmerz hat seine Augen nicht so vertrocknet, daß sie ihm keine Träne über das Schicksal seiner alten Freunde gewähren könnten – nichts ist betrüglicher als allgemeine Gesetzte für unsere Empfindungen."

Die Freundschaft gibt es nicht. Freundschaften sind so vielfältig, zahlreich und trotzdem einzigartig – keine gleicht einer anderen. Genauso wenig es „allgemeine Gesetze für unsere Empfindungen" gibt, genauso unterschiedlich würde ein jeder seine Vorstellungen von Freundschaft umschreiben. Und trotz der individuell definierten Bedeutung bauen sie alle auf einer grundlegenden Sympathie für den anderen und gegenseitigem Vertrauen.

Der Freundschaftsbegriff ändert sich nicht nur individuell, sondern ändert sich auch massgeblich im Laufe der Zeit. Während ein mittelalterlicher „friunt" als übertragene Verwandtschaft bezeichnet wurde und bestimmte Funktionen innerhalb der Gesellschaft übernahm, gehört die Freundschaft heute in den Bereich der Privatsphäre.

Während das altgriechische Wort „philia" sowohl für Freundschaft als auch Liebe steht, grenzt sich die heutige Freundschaft gerade von der Liebe und damit verbundenen Erotik ab. Bis ins 17. Jahrhundert wurden Freundschaft und Verwandtschaft in der deutschen Sprache synonym verwendet – seit Ferdinand Tönnies gelten freundschaftliche Beziehungen als „Gemeinschaften des Geistes" und heute weiss jeder was unter „BFF" (Best Friends Forever) zu verstehen ist.

So unterschiedlich die kulturellen und von der jeweiligen Zeit abhängigen Lebensbedingungen sein können, so verschieden sind auch die Menschen, zwischen denen Freundschaften entstehen. Auch diese Ausstellung entstand aus Freundschaft – einerseits zwischen der Kuratorin Oona Lea von Maydell und der Künstlerin Genoveva Filipovic, die beide in Frankfurt/Main leben und arbeiten, und andererseits zwischen den beiden schwedischen Künstlerinnen Anna Zacharoff und Helga Bärnarp.

Mit dem Frankfurter zur Zeit in Berlin arbeitenden Künstler Felix Riemann stellt die Ausstellung zudem die Frage nach Geschlechterrollen innerhalb von freundschaftlichen Konstellationen.

Weiter wird die Arbeit mit dem Titel "Projektion" von Michaela Eichwald aus dem Jahr 2008 zu sehen sein.

„Der Grieche" – Hinterzimmer und ehemalige Privatwohnung des Wirts des dazu gehörenden griechischen Restaurants – bietet die intime Atmosphäre und verströmt das Flair von einem Privatsalon, der an frühere Zeiten erinnern lässt. Passend zum Thema wurde dieses private Ambiente von der Kuratorin ganz bewusst gewählt.

The performace "Suggere Inhibition" is an interaction between a knife thrower, an accordion player and Marcel Petry. The performance will take place in the underground passageway of Dom/Römer subway station. The performance is about the artist's fascination and fear towards possible danger evoked in subway stations.

Die Performance "Suggere Inhibition" ist eine Interaktion zwischen Marcel Petry, einem Messerwerfer und einem Akkordeonspieler. Das Trio setzt sich mit dem Ausstellungsort in der U-bahn-Station Dom/Römer und den von diesem Ort ausgehenden Gefühlen Angst und Faszination auseinander.

Heatsick (Cocktail d´Amore, Pan Rec)
The sound of Heatsick comes from Steven Warwick of drone act Birds of Delay. Birds include Luke Younger and have toured the USA with Emeralds, opened for Sonic Youth and have several releases on various CDR and cassette labels including Alcoholic Narcolepsy, Warwick's own.  Heatsick uses various instruments including voice, keyboard and percussion to create saturated washes of tone, floating and disintegrating entropic loops, while also using deliberately broken continuity as a playful, live conceptual gesture.
The project is focused on repetition as a means of creating abstraction, improvising with organic variations of a theme, yet embracing the artificial to facilitate a psychedelic mindshift. The music references a palette of sources from Musique Concrete and Psychedelia, through to the early Chicago House mix tapes, creating a unique and compelling sound.

Ben Butler and Mousepad (LOAF rec) is Joe Howe, currently based in Glasgow, Scotland. He has produced weird, complex, synth-led music under a bunch of aliases, including GAY AGAINST YOU and GERMLIN. The last few years have seen Joe producing an album for MOMUS, working on an Opera in Berlin about WENDY CARLOS and rocking festivals, residencies and clubs through Europe, as well as remixing BLACK DEVIL DISCO CLUB, DEERHOOF, FULGEANCE, KLAXONS and THE CHAP (amongst others).  As Ben Butler & Mousepad, he plays solo or in duo with Bastian Hagedorn on drums, under a proper prog-rock/ skwee influence which doesn't forget fun. Magma vs. Goblin on a Cosmic Sci Fi Dancefloor.
They've just toured the US with Deerhoof and have played alongside MSTRKRFT, Max Tundra, Mahjonng, Errors, Lucky Dragons and at festivals including Novafest (NO), OFF Festival (PO), Pictoplasma (DE), Sonic City (BE), Cimatics Festival (BE). Solo festival shows include Glasgow International Art festival (UK), Glasgow Film Festival (UK), Glade (UK), TDK Cross Central (UK), OYE (NO), Futuresonic (UK), Numusic (NO),ZXZW (BE).

As a fanciful notion, an illusory promise, a dream that is unlikely to come true: ''Pie in the sky'' is a phrase that was coined by the immigrant labor activist and song writer Joe Hill at the turn of the 20th century. It appeared for the first time in his song ''The Preacher and the Slave'' in 1911.

The exhibition in Platform Sarai suggests to imagine and to think about the possible outcomes of what is desired to be achieved. Both artistic positions subjectify themselves through a certain (in)visible search. In ''My Father Looks For An Honest City'' Magdy collaborates with his father, the latter becoming an active agent of the work. Like the Greek philosopher Diogenes of Sinope, he is on a utopian search. In this way, the school of cynicism reveals itself through the urban context of Cairo. Correspondingly, Haliti's self-critical work ''Our Death Others' Dinner'' deals with moral issues. It raises questions around the ethics of socially engaged art by problematizing the exploitation of the victim. The work attempts to find a subtle language capable of speaking of issues of the victim without victimizing the Other. The hidden subject of this work, however is the missing people of Kosovo war (1997-1998).

The persistent search in Magdy's work responds to an invisible wish to find the missing people in Haliti's work. The dialogue between the two installations gives rise to an open-ended discourse. In the hybrid space of Platform Sarai, a space that is at the same time a kitchen, an arts library and exhibition space, Pie In The Sky intends to create a dual act.

Basim Magdy

Born in Assiut, Egypt in 1977, Basim Magdy currently lives and works in Basel, Switzerland and Cairo, Egypt. Magdy works with different media including drawing, painting, animation, installation, sculpture, film, video, sound and printed matter. He is particularly interested in creating narrative structures that explore the space between reality and fiction and its influence on science, history, global culture and the dissemination of knowledge. His work appeared recently in solo and group exhibitions Argos Art Center, Brussels; Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna; Institut Mathildenhöhe, Darmstadt; 1^st D-O ARK Underground Biennial, Konjic/Sarajevo; Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCa), North Adams and 2^nd Ateliers de Rennes Biennale d'art contemporain, Rennes among others.

Flaka Haliti

Born in Pristhina in 1982, Flaka Haliti lives and works in Frankfurt am Main. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, Pristina University (2005), and is currently continuing her studies at Staedelschule, Frankfurt. Haliti works with conceptual language, and uses various mediums including video, sound, installation, photography and performance Her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions, presentations, symposiums and workshops internationally. Flaka Haliti is the winner of the First Prize in "Agriculture and Banking", organized by Staedelschule Frankfurt/Main and Rentenbank, Frankfurt am Main (2009).

[sic] aka Jen Morris begann eigentlich als Fotografin, Filmerin und Malerin. Inzwischen auch bei der Musik angelangt, gleicht ihre Musik einem Reisebericht durch spontane Soundlandschaften und einer elektronischen Neuinterpretation von zufälligen Pattern und Anordnungen von organischen Prinzipien. Eine Neuzeichnung von den aussergewöhnlichen sowie von den profanen Elementen, welche unseren Alltag ausmachen.

Der Luzerner Andreas Glauser benutzt für seine Soundperformances diverse analoge und manipulierte Geräte in wechselnden Kombinationen, wie zum Beispiel: manipulierte Mischpulte, Orgel, Effektgeräte, farbbeschichtete Schallplatten und Bandmaschinen.

Her music is a travel report of a voyage through spontaneous soundscapes and an electronic interpretation of contingent patterns and structures of organic principles. Die philosophische Ästhetik hat sich bislang nur spärlich mit dem Essen beschäftigt. Dies ist umso erstaunlicher nicht nur, weil der „Geschmack“ seit Kant zu ihren Grundbegriffen gehört, sondern auch, weil zahlreiche Positionen der interventionistischen Kunst gerade mit diesem Thema arbeiten. Grund genug, sich zusammen mit Dr. Lemke etwas eingehender mit dieser "Kunst des Essens" zu befassen.

Harald Lemke, geboren 1965, studierte Philosophie und Geschichte in Konstanz, Hamburg und Berkeley; 1999 promovierte Lemke in Philosophie bei Prof. Axel Honneth in Frankfurt am Main. 2006 erfolgte die Habilitation zum Thema „Ethik des Essens. Einführung in die Gastrosophie“. Heute lehrt er am Institut für Kulturtheorie an der Leuphana Universität Lüneburg. Er ist Autor von mehreren Monografien, darunter „Die Weisheit des Essens. Gastrosophische Feldforschung“ (2008) und „Die Kunst des Essens. Eine Ästhetik des kulinarischen Geschmacks“ (2007) sowie Herausgeber von zahlreichen Fachpublikationen. Seine Artikel wurden in renommierten Zeitschriften, Zeitungen, Lexika und Magazinen veröffentlicht.

Die Welt zu erforschen heißt zu allererst sie auf Essbarkeit zu überprüfen. Alle verfügbaren Materialien werden in verschiedenen Zuständen - ganz frisch, roh oder gekocht , vergoren, gefroren, vermantscht etc.- daraufhin getestet, ob sie für uns geeignetes Material zum Überleben darstellen. Die beiden Kategorien, in die wir die Welt einteilen sind: essbar - nicht essbar. Um diese wichtigste Entscheidung treffen zu können, werden Kriterien gebraucht, die jeder für sich erarbeiten muss. Im Vortrag von Arpad Dobriban werden nicht nur diese theoretischen Fragen erörtert. Er präsentiert einige Kostproben aus eigener Produktion, die seine Überlegungen auch physisch erfahrbar machen.

Für den Künstler Arpad Dobriban, geboren 1957, steht das Kochen seit mehr als 20 Jahren im Mittelpunkt seiner künstlerischen Arbeit. Er studierte als Meisterschüler bei Nam June Paik und war Gaststudent in Peter Kubelkas Kochklasse an der Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main. Seit 2003 hatte er verschiedenen Gastdozenturen über Kochen in Stuttgart (Frei Kunsthochschule), Basel (Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst) und Witten (Universität) inne. Neben seiner Lehrtätigkeit verfolgt Dobriban verschiedene praktische Forschungstätigkeiten, deren Ergebnisse in Form großer Gastmähler der Öffentlichkeit präsentiert werden.

Larissa Hägele's Arbeit stellt eine unklare Welt von Erinnerung und Wirklichkeit dar, welche gleichzeitig eine Doppeldeutigkeit zwischen Identifikation und Bedeutungslosigleit beinhaltet.

Für das Schaufenster des NoMad, konzentriert sich Larissa Hägele auf das Schaufenster in Form einer Vitrine, in welcher Objekte konserviert werden.

In their project "voiceoverhead" Dani Gal and Achim Lengerer perform with DJ consoles in front of the audience to create a new "text" from documentary material of public speeches, political statements and other original soundtracks of our times. The performance project can be experienced live at Hörspielstudio 7, Hessischer Rundfunk (HR) and will also be aired on hr2-Kultur's program "The Artist's Corner" starting at 11:05 pm. As a sound installation, "voiceoverhead" will be part of the exhibition "Demonstrations. Making Normative Orders" at the Frankfurter Kunstverein in January.

Die Alison und Peter Klein Stiftung fördert seit 2008 künstlerische, kulturelle und soziale Projekte. 2009 wurde erstmals der Stiftungspreis für Fotokunst ausgelobt.

Der in Berlin lebende Künstler Sascha Weidner (geboren 1976) erhält in diesem Jahr den Fotopreis der Alison und Peter Klein Stiftung. Zum ersten Mal stand bei der Auswahl für den Preis ein Thema im Mittelpunkt: „Heimat“. Sascha Weidners Fotografien bewegen sich auf dem schmalen Grat zwischen Inszenierung und Natürlichkeit, poetischer Verdichtung und vorgefundener Alltagsrealität, biografischem Impuls und Allgemeingültigkeit, zwischen lautem Großstadtleben und stiller Poesie. Oft ist das persönlich Erlebte Ausgangspunkt für ein Projekt.

Parallel zur aktuellen Hängung #7 ist dem Stiftungspreis eine Ausstellung gewidmet. Vom 21.11.2011 bis 15.1.2012 werden Werke aller Teilnehmer der Finalrunde - LAURENZ BERGES, NATHALIE GRENZHAEUSER, JULIA GRÖNING, SYLVIA HENRICH, SONJA KÄLBERER, EVA LEITOLF, JOSEF SCHULZ – im Kunstwerk präsentiert.

Everyone who enters Elaine will be surrounded by sound. The composer and sound designer Erik Hedin will create a "sonic background" and the instrumentalists will climb in and give the kaleidoscope different forms and colours. The participants will play compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, Paul Hindemith, Bernard Cavanna, Peter Maxwell Davies and others, but throughout the evening, the kaleidoscope will be guided by Karlheinz Stockhausen's text pieces from "Aus den sieben Tagen / From the Seven Days" (1968).

For many years I have had the idea of creating a space of sound, a space through which people could walk in and out and where, upon entering, it would feel like merging with the music. This project emerged out of my desire to put our quartet into a shop window and let people go in and out during our long rehearsals and preparation for concerts.

Vom 19. bis 20. November 2011 veranstaltet »basis« nun zum vierten Mal in Kooperation mit den städtischen Ateliers der Stadt Frankfurt und dem ATELIERFRANKFURT ein Wochenende der offen Ateliers. Auch viele private Ateliers öffnen zu diesem Anlass ihre Türen. Über 200 Künstlerateliers können an diesen beiden Tagen in der Stadt besucht werden.

In den beiden Häusern von »basis« in der Gutleutstraße 8 - 12 und in der Elbesraße 10 HH öffnen zu diesem Anlass wieder über 120 Künstler ihre Ateliers und Arbeitsräume für die Besucher. Zudem bietet »basis« auch dieses Jahr wieder ein umfangreiches Rahmenprogramm an.

In der Ausstellung across the dark metropolis setzt sich Stephen Suckale mit dem Phänomen der Stadt Los Alamos im US-amerikanischen Bundesstaat New Mexico auseinander. Die unscheinbare Kleinstadt ist der Ort gleich mehrerer Zeitenwenden der Menschheit. Am hier angesiedelten Forschungszentrum Los Alamos National Laboratory entwickelte Robert Oppenheimer die Atombombe und Seymour Cray leitete im Jahr 1976 mit dem ersten Supercomputer "cray-1" das digitale Zeitalter ein. Ein Jahr zuvor hatte William Eggleston die zehnjährige Arbeit an seiner ersten in Farbe fotografierten Serie "Los Alamos" beendet, die kurz darauf in einer viel beachteten Einzelausstellung im Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York gezeigt wurde. Es war die erste Ausstellung von Farbfotografien überhaupt im MoMA. Egglestons Motive zeigen die biedere Alltagsnormalität einer Kleinstadt in den 1970er Jahren. Die folgenschweren Erfindungen am Los Alamos National Laboratory sind in diesen Bildern abwesend, vielmehr rückt Eggleston in technischer und kompositorischer Perfektion das Nebensächliche, Zufällige, Unschöne in den Blick.

Eine Leinwand mit Siebdruck und Malerei bildet den Ausgangspunkt von Stephen Suckales Ausstellung across the dark metropolis. Dieses Bild greift das Plakatmotiv von Fritz Langs wegweisenden Stummfilm "Metropolis" aus dem Jahr 1927 auf. Die Verbindung mit dem Science-Fiction-Szenario über eine technisch entfesselte Stadt und ihre Bewohner macht das Ausmaß des Fortschrittsglaubens im 20. Jahrhundert sichtbar. In seinen Collagen führt Suckale Harmonie und Widerspruch von Technik, Natur und Menschen weiter.

Stephen Suckale, geboren 1979 in Frankfurt am Main, studierte von 2002 bis 2008 an der Hochschule für Bildenden Künste, Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main.

EXT. CROSSROADS ON THE MOORS - NIGHT
Tree branches enter into the frame, the camera pans down and we see a truck approaching. We are at a crossroads in the moors.The truck stops at the crossroads, the DRIVER, mustached and wearing tweeds, boots, and a muffler, climbs down. "Moon Shadow" ends.
CUT TO:
Loud bang of the back grating on the truck as it slams down. Revealed among the sheep are two rudely-awakened young American boys. They look exhausted. They both carry backpacks, two American kids on a jaunt in Europe. They are both in their late twenties. It is very cold and they clamber out of the truck none too happily. Pushing sheep aside they step out and stretch.

– Did you hear that?
– I heard that.
– What was it?
– Could be a lot of things.
– Yeah?
– A Coyote.
Right now the coyote is just an extremely adaptable creature that's not a wolf, not a dog, not anything that we can put our finger on, except this trickster problem animal or Wile E. Coyote or the southwest animal. But we really created this problem when we eradicated the wolf, that's when the coyote started traveling east. We created that problem. They started interbreeding with red wolves and became a bigger, more powerful adaptable beast. We created that problem. When a coyote comes into our neighborhood and eats our tiny helpless little dog I think we created that problem too. So I think the coyote is still a kind of a trickster in the mirror of our own strange way of managing things. – Sarah Rose

The Philosophy of Complaint

(...) The third kind of complaint, or what Spinoza also calls the intuitive complaint or the intellectual complaint of God, is the highest, most sublime, and most perfectly rational form of complaint, attained by only a few sage whiners in their lifetime. Here the vexations and troubles of the mode are viewed sub specie aeternitatis, from the perspective of the everlasting Grievance that is the one-Substance or God. At this stage we are elevated beyond anthropomorphic categories and representations, the so-called “culture of complaint” where everyone is a victim and someone else morally if not legally responsible for the mess. In the intellectual complaint of God, it is no longer “I” who complains, nor is there anyone left to blame for just how screwed up things are. All that remains is the sheer and unfailing necessity of a cranky automaton: It complains. Both the victimized self and the injurious other that sustains it are dissolved in the anonymous grumbling of a damaged life, which yammers on and on but without resentment, without malice, without guilt, and without worry. It is the pure complaining of the essence that ‘complains itself’ in and through the individual modes and all creation. In this sublimated expression of universal woe, pain and suffering are lifted above the personal passions and transmuted into a cold, austere joy.

A Performance Installation by Nissa Nishikawa 11am-8pm

Nissa Nishikawa will live for a day with three chickens on the roof of the FARM:shop, aiming for an agitation to investigate the horizon between animal and human. The transformations taking place in the chicken-coop are extended to encompass all the invisible forces with which the human have lost contact. She will transfer her state of being to another dimension, one in which different laws apply.

Nissa Nishikawa is an artist in the vast landscape of Performance. Her performances have been shown internationally in theatres, museums, galleries, forests, fields and films. Her most recent pieces were at The Jersey Opera House, Camden Arts Centre and Palace of Arts/Mucsarnok Kunsthalle Budapest.

*At 7pm Musicians Jonny Halifax aka. Honkeyfinger (www.honkeyfinger.com), Alan Jones and Visual Artist/Filmmaker Fritz Stolberg will join the space to create an improvised soundscape.

Beecameralmind evokes a moment in a dream where you can have the identity of a feeling or an emotion, being anyone at anytime-at the same time. The Moorish princesses from the Saragossa Manuscript are the main protagonists. They make use of a ritual where they accept images or reject them. They perform a kind of energy channelling that also functions like a time machine where one of them in re-manifested in a different space.

Beatrice Steimer lives and works in Frankfurt. She graduated from the Städelschule in 2011. Her most recent exhibitions were at PERFORMA, New York and NOmad Kunstverein, Frankfurt.

*RUDDERLESS* by Igor and Ivan Buharov

Kornél Szilágyi and Nándor Hevesi have been working together under the pseudonym Igor & Ivan Buharov since 1995. Their films, mainly shot with a Super-8 camera, combine experimental filmmaking methods with aspects of storytelling. The protagonists in their films are usually amateurs and friends whose specific language and dialogue contributes to an atmosphere of timelessness and uncertainty of place.

Their new film “Rudderless” (“Kormányeltörés ben”) was produced in 2010 and screened among others at Manifesta 8, Murcia or at the International Film Festival in Salonica. It is inspired by the eponymous poem (1971) by the Hungarian poet István Domonkos (b. 1940), a modern epic, a self-analysis of a person living in minority status in former Yugoslavia in the early 1970s. Understood in broader context, the poem illustrates aspects of emigrant life, such as uprootedness, alienation or transformation of identity because of the loss of language. The visual depiction of the poetic text, at a swift tempo, leads us into a world of various political and economical situation, private or collective, and intimately familiar or utterly absurd moments and encounters.

Arrastre denotes a drag of the foot in dance terminology. It is also a crude apparatus for crushing ore. In this film the mechanistic and choreographed collide in an eerie tableau mouvant.

Nicholas Brooks works with film and installation colliding sculptural and cinematographic language. He lives and works in London.

*THE MOON’S IMPOSSIBLE DREAM TO SHINE ITS OWN LIGHT* By Fritz Stolberg and Kohhei Matsuda

The Moon’s Impossible Dream To Shine Its Own Light is the first instalment of a planned series of collaborations between filmmaker Fritz Stolberg and musician Kohhei Matsuda. Taking an experimental approach to live 8mm film projection in conjunction with live sound Stolberg and Matsuda are opening up to improvisation and the intervention of chance to explore an expansion on the vocabulary of their audio-visual language.

Fritz Stolberg’s practice as an artist and filmmaker is informed by a mixture of western occultism, eastern philosophies, ideas of utopia and explorations along the line that divides the world’s existence from its immanent non-existence. Parallel to his art practice he produces and directs Music-videos and Fashion-films. His work has been shown internationally in various exhibitions and festivals.

Die Ausstellung findet im Rahmen des »basis«-Studioprogramms statt, an dem Shane Munro 2010/2011 als Stipendiat teilgenommen hat.

Shane Munro (* 1978 in Belgrad) lebt und arbeitet in Frankfurt am Main. Nach Abschluss seines Studiums der Fotografie und Digitalen Medien an der Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge 2003, studierte er von 2007 bis 2010 bei Prof. Tobias Rehberger an der Städelschule Frankfurt. 2010 erhielt er den von der Städelschule Portikus e.V. gestifteten Absolventenpreis. Er war bereits an zahlreichen internationalen Ausstellungsprojekten beteiligt, u.a. 2011 New Frankfurt Internationals: Stories and Stages, Kunstverein Frankfurt; 2010 Too Fat to Fit, Kunstverein Wiesbaden, Payloads, Landings, Oslo, Geschmacksverstärker, MMK Frankfurt; 2009 Summer Readings, Invisible Exports, New York, Deuxime Bureau, Parisa Kind, Frankfurt. Im Museum der Weltkulturen in Frankfurt am Main kuratiert Shane Munro derzeit den neuen Projektraum „Green Room“.

Die Ausstellung wurde von Shane Munro im Rahmen seiner Teilnahme am »basis«-Studioprogramm 2010/2011 kuratiert.

Olga Pedan (*1988 in Charkov, Ukraine) lebt und arbeitet in Frankfurt/Main. Nach ihrem Fotografie-Diplom am London College of Communication und Art Practice Studium am Goldsmith College, London studiert Olga Pedan seit 2009 an der Städelschule, Fankfurt bei Prof. Tobias Rehberger. Mit ihren Arbeiten war sie bereits bei unterschiedlichen Ausstellungsprojekten vertreten, u.a. 2011 Structure of the Moment, Karkov Museum of Art, Suposition, beige Cube, Frankfurt; 2010 Too Fat Too Fit, Nassauischer Kunstverein Wiesbaden, Rundgang, Städelschule, Frankfurt sowie The Earth is Hollow and Open at the Poles, Galleri KG 52, Stockholm.

"Waking Up from The Nightmare of Participation" co-edited by Markus Miessen and Nina Valerie Kolowratnik to be released in September 2011, published by Expodium, Utrecht.

Wake Up from The Nightmare of Participation! This book presents a platform for the development of proactive engagement and aims to fuel an antagonistic debate amongst theorists and practitioners from various fields of knowledge, cultural backgrounds and political positions about the central thesis of Markus Miessen's recent publication "The Nightmare of Participation – Crossbench Praxis as a Mode of Criticality". This book does not look for approval or consensual deliberation, but seeks for an agile examination of a proposed post-consensual (spatial) practice, formulating the necessity to undo the innocence of participation while promoting a conflictual reading of participation as a mode of proactive first person singular engagement: a step towards a state of acting and an individual, propositional practice. None of the contributions were content-edited; no consensual or editorial constraints were imposed onto any of the contributors.

Curators involved in the exhibition series "Demanding Supplies" are Julia Moritz, Valérie Knoll, Hannes Loichinger, Magnus Schäfer, and Cornelia Kastelan.

Following a long critical tradition, the art market has been understood as art's contaminating "other". More recently, there have been increasing attempts to subject the dichotomy between art and economy to a more differentiated analysis: the art market appears as a highly ritualized, segmented system marked by complex social processes. Whereas it resembles other markets in some respects, its unique characteristics include intransparency, as well as distinctive value regimes and hidden symbolic commodification processes in the interplay of a variety of actants. There is a widespread awareness of these conditions in the artistic field, and many artists are still critically investigating the intricacies of that very market—without falling into euphoria or phobia. In the thicket of an accelerated art market that is perceived as diffuse, explicit positioning seems essential for reflecting on one's own involvement.

In 2011, the Kunstraum of Leuphana University of Lüneburg, Germany, has devoted three exhibition projects entitled "Demanding Supplies – Nachfragende Angebote" to this exploration of art and its markets. In the first phase, "Enabling Space," nOffice (Markus Miessen, Ralf Pflugfelder, Magnus Nilsson) developed a new spatial structure and thereby questioned how the conditions of art's presentation predetermine its ambivalent relationship to its market.

The second phase, "Trans-Actions," developed in collaboration with Halle für Kunst Lüneburg and Magnus Schäfer, was a double exhibition focusing on a phenomenon of the most recent history of art. Taking the example of the New York gallery "American Fine Arts, Co."—founded by Colin de Land (1955–2003)—the exhibition looked at the merging of commercial and artistic practices generally considered at odds with each other. Exhibition participants included Art Club 2000, Patterson Beckwith, J. St. Bernard, Stephan Dillemuth, John Dogg, Loretta Fahrenholz, Karl Holmqvist, Jackie McAllister, James Meyer, andPhillip Zach. Besides these reflexions on the mechanisms of art markets, artist Carissa Rodriguezhighlighted the problem of professional positioning in the art world in her installation "Secrétaires". The works of three of these artists are kept for the current exhibition.

The third phase, "Besides Reproduction," will now present four artistic positions that shift attention to the art market under varying premises: Maria Eichhorn and Daniel Buren are joined by Diego Castro and Katja Staats, the two 2011 winners of the Daniel Frese Prize for Contemporary Art, which was awarded for the first time this year.

The NKV Kunstverein Wiesbaden is pleased to present the first institutional EINZELAUSSTELLUNG ('solo exhibition') by Mario Pfeifer (*1981). Film and video installations from the years 2008 to 2010 provide a concentrated overview of his artistic development since graduating from the Städelschule Frankfurt/Main in 2008. A continuum in Mario Pfeifer's work are clear formal and thematic references to other artists and works, mostly from the 60's and 70's, as well as to fathom a thoroughly composed formal aesthetic, which he expands onto the exhibition architecture. His recent and most extensive work, A FORMAL FILM IN NINE EPISODES, PROLOGUE & EPILOGUE (2010), confronts three of his former produced film and video installations. Three photographic works, each referencing one of the installations and reflecting their research strategies and production conditions, accompany the films. Pfeifer's earliest work YET UNTITLED ['PIECES OF NATURE'] (2008) which was his final art school project, can be interpreted as a performance or film production, following actors to an alleged casting. Also the crew and the producer act in front of the camera and finally literally mirroring Jeff Wall's photograph PICTURE FOR WOMEN (1979), a staged production of staged photography.

RECONSIDERING "THE NEW INDUSTRIAL PARK NEAR IRVINE, CALIFORNIA" BY LEWIS BALTZ, 1974 (2009), a two-piece b/w 16mm-projection, addresses an industrial architecture, which the American artist already portrayed in his art book of the same name. The first projection leads the viewer into an 11-minute unedited camera trip through the interior of a metal workshop. An interview with the former tenant describes the historical industrial context. The second projection shows in parallel the reverse browsing of Baltz' art book whereby each book page merges into a montage with the ongoing camera trip. Only at the end, when the camera trip ends in front of the building, Pfeifer lets the montage fall apart into two incompatible frames and a comment on the interrelation between film and photography

In the film UNTITLED ['TWO GUYS'] (2009) Mario Pfeifer follows two young men with the camera through Berlin-Kreuzberg and becomes the cinematic observer of their body language and mimic, which finally culminates in an aesthetic-rhythmic Krumping, which seems to blow up the space. Krumping is an expressive street-dance, which first evolved amongst young Americans to release aggression and to escape gang-life. In his film Pfeifer several times comes precariously close to them, breaking through their physical shelter.

On the second floor the three-part projection A FORMAL FILM IN NINE EPISODES, PROLOGUE & EPILOGUE finally unfolds with powerful, strong pictures. The nine episodes portray landscape, architecture, interiors and people in Mumbai and suburbia, each site radiating a mysterious beauty. Eventually the film leaves its documentary perspective and changes into a narrative, as Mario Pfeifer focuses on two protagonists and their story. Beyond its aesthetic power the film critically explores the development of Mumbai and its cultural phenomena. Like Louis Malle with his masterpiece L'INDE FANTÔME (1969), Pfeifer also takes up the position of an outsider, looking at a strange culture, however
unable to withstand its fascination. With the formal title EINZELAUSSTELLUNG Mario Pfeifer refers to what is actually visible in the exhibition and analyses the existence of singularity, the subject in the discourse.

Mario Pfeifer was born 1981 in Dresden, Germany.
He studied at the University of Arts, Berlin and at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig, before he changed in 2007 to the class for interdisciplinary art with Professor Willem de Rooij at the Städelschule, Frankfurt/Main. Here Mario Pfeifer graduated 2008 with the film "Yet Untitled [Pieces OF Nature]". A USA scholarship of the Fulbright Commission followed with further training at the California Institutes of the Arts. In 2009 and 2010 Mario Pfeifer was supported by the Goethe Institute, for which he, amongst others, curated a film program. He also received production grants by the Transvideo Studios, USA and the Werkleitz Society. After a four-month residency in Mumbai, India, he took part in a scholarship program of the DAAD in New York in 2010/11. Mario Pfeifer received the Video Art Award of the Film Office Bremen in 2010 and the Salon Video Art Prize in 2011 in London. His last work abroad led him 2011 to Dar Al-Ma'mûn, Morocco.

Mario Pfeifer's films were presented at international film festivals, inter alia in Bilbao, Bangkok, New York, Detroit, London, Toronto, Basel and Berlin. He also presented his work at numerous exhibitions, amongst others in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, in KW Institute for Contemporary Art Berlin, Museum Weserburg Bremen as well as at the Kunstverein Frankfurt and the Zollamt MMK Frankfurt/Main.

Mario Pfeifer lives and works in Berlin, He is represented by the gallery KOW Berlin where his first gallery solo exhibition took place in 2011.

White was a member of well-loved punk bluegrass outfit Bad Livers, but his solo work is possessed of a much more lonesome spark, exaggerating the implied drone at the heart of the music of Dock Boggs and The Stanley Brothers…White plays wooden six-string banjo, violin, button accordion and kalimba and his voice has a high, eerie quality to it…extremely psychedelic (David Keenan, The Wire UK)

Kunsthall Oslo is pleased to present the collaborative exhibition The Anti-Social Majority. Lars Laumann has invited seven friends and fellow artists from Europe and the US to show some of the film works, sculpture and installations they have worked on together over recent years. A new work by Laumann, Main, Uoo and Persson—combining extraordinary images gathered by Laumann from certain Central European churches with guitar and theremin music—will be performed for the first time on the exhibition's opening night. An edited version of this work will then form a central part of the exhibition.

The collaborations on view will include The Sami People's Flag in Neon by Andvig and Laumann; the film You Can't Pretend To Be Somebody Else—You Already Are by Huseby and Laumann, which reimagines the final days of the singer, model and sometime Warhol superstar Nico; Duet by Laumann and Persson, in which Margaret Thatcher and Donald Rumsfeld are autotuned to sing some of their best-known lines; and Love Parade, a sculpture and video installation by Laumann and Vollenga.

The title of the exhibition was suggested by Henrik Ibsen's play An Enemy of the People (1882), and underlines Laumann's politicised approach to the aesthetics and ethics of art and documentary film. The exhibition's emphasis on collaboration connects directly to Laumann's interest in finding alternative ways of working and modes of representation that avoid reinforcing the dominant ideologies of contemporary culture, that aim instead towards the imagination of a world that is at once stranger, and more humane.

The show will also include a video programme with further collaborative and individual works, and a collection of publications and recordings by the invited artists presented in cooperation with Torpedo Bookshop.

Kjersti Andvig (Norway) graduated from the National Academy of Art in Oslo in 2003. As an artist, her work often takes the form of long-term commitments to situations that demand complete personal dedication. She has had solo exhibitions at Rekord, Oslo, Triangle, Marseille, and Akershus Kunstsenter, Lillestrøm, and her work has been seen in group exhibitions including Lights On at the Astrup Fearnley Museum, Oslo, the Carnegie Art Award exhibition, Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, and the Lofoten International Art Festival 2011.

Vela Arbutina (Switzerland) is a graphic designer, trained at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam and Central St. Martins College of Art and Design, London. She is co-editor and art director of the semiannual magazine Girls Like Us and works as an independent designer in Amsterdam.

Benjamin Alexander Huseby (Norway) studied at Chelsea College of Art, London and the National Academy of Art, Oslo. He works primarily with photography and installation, often juxtaposing his interests in esoteric science, natural history and the counter-culture. His artwork has been exhibited at KunstWerke, Berlin, Fotogalleriet, Oslo and Momentum, the Nordic Art Biennial among many other places. His fashion and editorial photography has been featured in magazines including i-D, Another Magazine, Vogue, Dazed & Confused, Butt, Art Review and Harper's Bazaar.

Lars Laumann (Norway) studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Art in Oslo. Laumann's work ranges from experimental video collages and installations to long-form documentary films; what marks out his practice as a whole is a radical acceptance of the validity of voices and lifestyles marginalised by mainstream society. Laumann took part in the 5th Berlin Biennial in 2008 and the Liverpool Biennial in 2010, and won the Statoil Art Prize in 2009. His work has been shown at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Whitechapel Gallery, London; Kunsthalle Basel; Galerie West, Den Haag; Maureen Paley, London; Foxy Productions, New York and the Astrup Fearnley Museum, Oslo among many other venues.

James Jeanette Main (UK) is a Scottish performance artist, stylist, actor and DJ based in London. A long time collaborator of Benjamin A. Huseby, he has appeared in photo shoots for i-D, Vogue and V. Main also runs the club night 'Jeanette's Jungle Fever' at Vogue Fabrics, London.

Dan-Ola Persson (Sweden) is a musician currently based in Oslo. He is guitarist and singer in the Swedish death metal band Cardinal Sin and has also performed with Entity and The Ancient's Rebirth. His latest record, with music composed for Lars Laumann's films, was released by Torpedo Press in 2010.

Stewart Uoo (USA) is an artist based in New York. He studied at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco and at the Städelschule, Frankfurt. His work has been exhibited in shows at White Columns, NY; 179 Canal, NY; Papo's VIP, ArteBA, Buenos Aires. He has an upcoming solo exhibition at 47 Canal, NY.

Rein Vollenga (The Netherlands) studied in Den Bosch and now lives in Berlin. He creates sensuous, suggestive objects that can be worn as sculptural adornments; these 'wearable sculptures' have been commissioned by Paris fashion label Mugler and by performers including Lady Gaga. Vollenga has upcoming solo exhibitions of his work at Suvi Lehtinen, Berlin and Candy, Tokyo.

Die Gruppenschau versammelt Positionen Frankfurter Gegenwartskunst, die sich mit dem Thema Erinnerung beschäftigen – und wo die Erinnerung ausbleibt, mit Fiktion. Die Collagen von Petra Johanna Barfs kreisen um das Bild des Mädchens in der NS-Zeit, eröffnen irreale Welten und changieren zwischen heimlich und unheimlich. Die intensiven Ölbilder von Maria Bubenik spielen mit der Möglichkeit der Auflösung ihrer Figuren durch die Mittel der Malerei und fassen eine Reihe Jugendlicher ins Bild. Esther Gebara transformiert gefundene historische Fotografien in magisch anmutende Portraits in einer Farbigkeit, die der Erinnerung entsprechen kann. Ulu Braun zeigt Collagen, in denen surreal anmutende Landschaften mit facettenreichem Personal Realität und Fiktion auf künstlerisch-poetische Weise vermischen. Gunter Deller ist der Flaneur unter den Frankfurter Fotografen und zeigt einen bewegenden Ort der Erinnerung vom Rande der griechischen Hauptstadt. Die Bildhauerin Maritta Kaltenborn changiert in ihren Arbeiten zwischen Figur und Abstraktion und zeigt Kleinplastiken sowie ihren Baseler Totentanz. In der Ausstellung ?Erinnerung & Fiktion" im KunstBlock sind seine stillen Collagen zu sehen, drei Filme geben Einblick in das vielseitige Werk des Berliner Künstlers und Filmemachers. Ulu Braun erfindet utopische Räume, ja ganze Bildwelten und collagiert Gegensätzliches zu faszinierenden Settings. Verwesung und Frische, Konzentration und Zerstreuung, Behaglichkeit und Unwohlsein gehen in seinen Arbeiten eine untrennbare Einheit ein.

Die Schwerelosigkeit des Körpers im Wasser feiern die Unterwasserbilder von Dieter Mammel, die schon im KunstBlock gezeigt wurden. Sie finden eine filmische Fortsetzung im Kunstfilm, den der Maler mit Regisseur Claudio Malasomma und dem Komponisten Gökhan Kirdar realisiert hat. Under Deep Water zeigt anhand der Reise eines Jungen, wie sich Orient und Okzident treffen – im Wasser.

Thomas Draschan hat mit seinen collagierten Filmen, zumeist aus gefundenem Material, originelle, frappierende und preisgekrönte Filme gefertigt. Einer seiner schönsten Filme läuft als Vorfilm. Im Jahr 2004-2005 hat Jan Schmidt diesen Film, der in einem IC zwischen Darmstadt und Frankfurt entstanden ist, als Ode an die tagtägliche Geschäftsreise komponiert. Im fahrenden Zug vollzieht der unbekannte Protagonist die Endlosbewegung des Mediums Video nach.

Als Vorfilm gibt es mit ClitBANG die ironische wie kunstvolle Collage von Markus Frohnhöfer, die Konsum und Markenfetischismus ad absurdum führt. Darauf folgen zwei Filme von Gunter Deller, von dem gerade eine Installation in der Ausstellung ?Erinnerung & Fiktion" im KunstBlock zu sehen ist. Riverrun & Touchdown zeigt den Anflug auf die Twin Towers, unterlegt mit Wagners Walkürenklängen. Apocalypse Now meets 9/11 – eine Collage aus gefundenen 16mm-Reisefilmen und gestohlenem Filmton. Magic Bus ist ein Aufbruch in die Landschaften des fränkischen Untermains, ein Donnerschlag und ein visueller Trip. Sein ästhetischer Kunstfilm ist psychedelischer Roadmovie und zugleich persönliche Referenz an die Hippie-Ära und begeistert noch Jahrzehnte nach dieser Epoche.

Projektionen und Performances von Absolventen der Städelschule, Hochschule für Bildende Künste Frankfurt am Main und von Helden.

Der Performanceabend „Helden der Wand“ und die daraus resultierende Ausstellung spinnen ein Verhältnis zwischen filmdokumentarischen projizierten und situationsspezifischen leibhaftigen Gesten. Vier filmdokumentierte Performances werden im Kinosaal parallel projiziert und bieten eine Plattform für geladene Akteure performativ zu agieren und Kontexte zu verweben.

Vier KünstlerInnen, aus Amsterdam, Turin, Frankfurt und Kopenhagen stellen ihre Filmdokumente vor:

Barbara Philipps Arbeit „The Pigeonry“ legt einen Akzent auf den Geschmacks- und Geruchssinn. Durch die Verstärkung dieser Sinne ist es ihr möglich, kontextuell neue Assoziationsbilder zu erzeugen. In „The Pigeonry“ verwebt Philipp die Assoziationsbilder Taubenschlag und Restaurantsituation.

Paola Anzichés Arbeit „Aggrovigliamenti“ bezieht die besondere Raumarchitektur ein und füllt diesen mit Menschen und einem großflächigen elastischen Netz. Die Menge der beteiligten Personen lebt eine von dem Material bestimmte Choreografie vor, die den Raum erweitert.

In Martin Scherfenbergs Arbeit "Vorführung" werden Affen im Zoo gefilmt und zeitgleich wird ihnen das aufgenommene Bild auf einem Monitor präsentiert. Wir als Betrachter schauen den Affen bei der Selbstbetrachtung in zeitlicher Verschiebung zu. Wir werden zum Beobachter von Reaktionen auf das Erkennen des eigenen Abbildes.

Rasmus Soendegaard Johannsen zeigt einen Film der laufenden Serie „Aktion“, in der einfache Maschinen eine Aktion ausführen. Die Aktionen werden vom Kurbelgriff der Kamera ausgelöst und lassen die Konstruktionen radikal verändern. Die Holzkonstruktionen sind aus dem gleichen Holz gebaut, wie diejenigen, die man auch auf dem Bildschirm wahrnehmen kann.

Die Akteure des abends vertreten die folgenden Kontexte:
Bildende Künste, Installation: Carmina Conradt.
Choreografie, Tanz: Yasna Schindler.
Kunstgeschichte, Rhetorik: Anne Sulzbach.
Es kommentiert: Alfred Hitchcock.
Regie: Claudia Gaida.

Emergente Situationen und Atmosphären, die im Prozess der Performances selbst entstanden sind, wurden in die Form einer Filmdokumentation transkribiert. Am Performanceabend „Helden der Wand“ werden Akteure eingeladen, die transkribierten Performances mit dem Raum des Eschborn K und der Situation des Abends zu verweben. Zwischen Reagieren und Agieren entstehen performative Gesten, die assoziativ auch die dokumentierten Momente mit subjektiven Ideen und dem persönlichen Kontext kombinieren und neue gestische Möglichkeitsräume generieren können.
