Martha Rosler invites: The Ax Fight

Friday, May 9, 6 p.m., Aula

The Axe Fight by Timothy Asch and Napoleon Chagnon is a collaboratively produced ethnographic film about the indigenous Yanomamö, a people living in the Amazon rainforest along the border between Venezuela and Brazil. A prime example of self-reflexivity in film, The Ax Fight is notable for its undermining of the conventions of "objective" representation as well

as the adequacy of anthropological explanation.

The film will be screened Friday evening at 6pm in the Aula with a brief introduction by Martha Rosler.
