CONJUNCTION by Donna Huanca and Rachel de Joode is an on-site installation that hosts a live sculptural spectacle using sound and performance to interpret the order of the planetary alignments.

CONJUNCTION, a term used in astrology means that, as seen from some place (usually the Earth), two celestial bodies appear near one another in the sky. The event is also sometimes known as an appulse.
De Joode's photo series "The residue of those celestial objects bound to our Sun by gravity" (2009) is used as a starting point for the installation. Where De Joode's series seeks to universalize; to deconstruct the overall human interpretation of the solar system, CONJUNCTION is embodying a live reinterpretation of the planetary alignments and referring to the attributes of each planet.

Two performances will take place starring Helga Wretman (dancer and stunt woman) and Tallulah Holly-Massey (independent dancer, model); one at 20:20, and the other at 21:00.

Rachel de Joode's intention is to decipher human existence in absurd and surreal ways, through installations, mise en scenes and still life photography. "I seek to portray the otherworldliness in the most profane aspects of our world. My work depicts people and objects and their performative gestures. I explore the balance between the mystical subconscious and the rational daily life."
