Mit zwei Ausstellungsblöcken geht KING KONG Contemporary Art Project in die nächste Runde im Ehrenhof des Mannheimer Barockschlosses.
Unter den Titeln SOUND-PATTERN #1 /Violence in the city (12.-29. November) und
SOUND_PATTERN #2 / Fishing a dragon (03.-26. Dezember)

a veranstaltung, death sentence panda konzert
one two piece shows presents 2 trios:
death sentence panda (san francisco)
they´re gonna explain you how to make noise-freejazz-dodgy music with only a triangle, a glockenspiel and a flute (ja, and drums). they sound a bit like "deerhoof" reversed, "melt banana" on one leg or "the coughs" as musicians. two minute minimal and brachial songs with a lot of delay and squeaking. songtitles as "island of sexual violence" or "little one vs. big one". death sentence panda are kim (former T.I.T.S.), paul (former "murder murder") and chris (who surely had a nice band too), they´re on "upset the rythm" and thats enough namedropping now.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dE75-Th_x5E
they bring their friends "bronze". what a nice name! they are mostly playing triggered, delayed, looped instruments while they are in trance and stupid costumes. psychedelic noise wave music. without flutes, but with lots of gear, videos and a good outfit.

Jamie Isenstein, untitled (piano fingers), 2009 |
If something comes apart, is bent out of shape, gets out of joint as it were, one is surprised or bewildered, maybe even annoyed. The group exhibition "out of joint" gathers works by artists whose strength it is to use exactly this procedure as an artistic strategy. The works are abundant, theatrical, unexpected, absurd, puzzling or humorous, some make you blush, others lead you onto the wrong path.
Using all kinds of material and media each work is a complex entity calling an extraordinary and unique physical presence its own. All of them seem to represent a deep insight into a personal space as well as to form a statement on a collective knowledge. In their dynamic these works cannot be forced into rigid structures or be easily described. They continuously reject conventions and expectations, push back boundaries and move ingenuously in the conquered areas.
