Abdominal Quadrant is a live improvisational 4-channel sound performance by Alan B. Richmond and Bernhard Schreiner. Each of the 4 quadrants is represented by a speaker, where dedicated compositional elements are received from and looped by the performers as they evolve and effect, in real time, thus providing a self mixing, constantly evolving composition.

In this work, focus is drawn to the abdominal quadrant as an epicenter and origin of source and experience. Improvisation and intuitive production are often driven by 'instinct, which many claim resides in the abdomen. This notion is further accentuated by the fact that the hollow chamber of the guitar, and the electromagnets which amplify the string vibration, all resonate heavily in this anatomical region. In this performance, room and bodily resonances are of prominent importance.
