Thomsons untersucht experimentell Fragen der Metaphysik, so hat er zur Eröffnung von "What Now Is It" einen Versuchsaufbau konstruiert, in dem ein Ikosaeder und ein Kuboktaeder, beide aus Baumarktmaterialien konstruiert und mit Spiegeln versehen, von einer Kamera abgefilmt werden und deren filmisches Abbild von einem Videobeamer auf die beiden Objekte zurückgeworfen wird, was wiederum abgefilmt wird, sodass ein Bild im Bild entsteht, welches wiederum abgefilmt wird und so weiter und so fort ad inf. Beim Eintreten in diesen Mandelbrot'schen Raum wird der Betrachter vor Fragen der Unendlichkeit, die Existenz paralleler Universen und den Dimensionen jenseits der dritten gestellt. Zur Finissage wird Thomson in Bezug zur Ausgangssituation einen weiteren Eingriff in den Raum und die Installation vornehmen.
Thomson investigates on an experimental level questions of metaphysics. For the opening of "What Now Is It" he constructed a feedback loop in which a mirrored icosahedron and cuboctahedron, made out of home hardware materials, are filmed in real time by a camera. The image is thrown back onto the two objects by a video beamer, only to be caught by the camera again, creating an image inside an image, which again is filmed and so on and so forth ad inf. Entering this Mandelbrot-esque space the spectator is confronted by questions of infinity, the existence of parallel universes and dimensions beyonf the third. For the finissage Thomson will, in relation to the initial situation, make a further intervention within the space and the installation.
